It has just been announced that Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana will be the host of this years Teen Choice Awards 2008. This will be the first time Miley will host an awards show by herself. 1
As reported earlier, Miley Cyrus has been signed to host with the show airing Monday, August 4 at 8pm ET. There are oodles of reality show categories and more specifically, a category for “looking for love” reality shows. And still only one category for animated shows? 2

The event is hosted by teen sensation Miley Cyrus at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City , CA and will air on Monday, Aug. 4 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. “Gossip Girl” leads the pack with 14 nominations. Host Miley Cyrus scored 4 nominations, Chris Brown has 9, and Justin Timberlake, the reigning TEEN CHOICE champ, has 3 nominations. 3
Will Miley Cyrus be going up against Will Smith in a dance-off at Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards? The pop star, who’s also hosting the awards, has been engaged in an ongoing, YouTube-fueled dance battle with her best pal, Mandy Jiroux, against actor-dancer Adam Sevani and his Step Up 2 director, Jon M. Chu. Now, Sevani suggests that Will Smith may get into the act during Sunday’s show. “Will Smith is so cool,” Cyrus’ 15-year-old dance nemesis told E!. Sevani’s team (ACDC) and Cyrus’ (M&M Cru) have been bringing celebs from Lindsay Lohan to Adam Sandler in for their YouTube videos — so Sunday’s segment will likely have its surprises. For his part, though, the only thing on Sevani’s mind is victory. 4
Bob Bain and Michael Burg came together to produce an award show for a young demographic, somewhat older to that of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards but similar to that of MTV. The format of the show has remained the same, awarding the achievements of those in the entertainment and athletic industries with non-traditional categories fixed into the ceremony. For example, in 2007, Verizon’s VCast was a big digital advancement, that the “Choice VCast Video” category was added to the repertoire. 5
Ballots are usually found in teen oriented magazines, where readers were to purchase and tear out their ballot. Even though the show suggests it is based on viewers votes, the case is far from the truth. According to the credits, fans chose the top 4 finalists. Out of those four finalists, the winner is selected by “Teenasaurus Rox”. Also, the ultimate choice and red carpet icon awards are determined by the producers of the show. 7
Since the ceremony’s inception, the show has given out lifesize surfboards to individual winners. They create a new original design every year. This Year Will be the be the biggest cermony excepting 15 million views will hope to make this goal achive. 8
When the David Archuleta teen fans questioned and petitioned that he be added to the nominations the teen fans was informed via email response that the winner of the American Idol was automatically added to the list. To keep checking back for updates as he could be added later. The young teens are still hoping for a positive response. 9
